One roof grandstand or the stands at circus Formula E in Ancol, North Jakarta, collapsed due to strong winds and rain. Police suspect that the roof of the stands collapsed due to construction problems.
“The damage was caused by a weak support pole. That (information) was from the coordinator of the circuit handling, yes,” said Pademangan Police Chief Kompol Happy Saputra when contacted, Saturday (28/5/2022).
Happy said the collapse event the roof of the grandstand on the Formula E . circuit it happened on Friday (27/5) around 23.00 WIB. At that time, Ancol and its surrounding areas were experiencing heavy rain.
“Yes, so maybe the pole is not strong enough. Maybe it was designed, maybe in our country the rain is strong enough, so the support is not strong enough,” Happy said.
From the initial statement, the Formula E circuit manager said that the construction of the roof of the grandstand had been completed. However, technical problems with the reconstruction caused the roof of the grandstand to collapse when the rain hit.
“It’s done, it’s done. But yes, there are technical factors in the construction. That’s why we plan to have it Chat again and emphasizing and providing input, don’t let it happen on the D-day (again),” explained Happy.

“High winds and rainstorm last night, only 1 grandstand it’s just the roof that collapses, that’s just the roof, but directly done came back this morning,” said Sahroni.
“Additional strength to the tent will be added so it doesn’t happen again as long as it’s not a storm like last night,” he continued.
From one of the photos circulating, it can be seen that the white roof of the Formula E stands was damaged. Roofs fell onto the stands and a number of sides of the Formula E circuit.
“God willing, tomorrow will be okay,” said Sahroni.
