The holidays continue Of King Charles and of Queen consort Camillaand this does not seem to please the English at all, for various reasons. The one that looks like a real one second honeymoon for the royal couple, breaks a tradition of Queen Elizabethand it seems inopportune in such a delicate moment for the country and a few months before the beginning of the new mandate of the King. In short, even on vacation poor Carlo only attracts criticism.
“A well-deserved vacation”: King Charles’s announcement that the English don’t like
After Christmas in Sandringhamin Norfolk, King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla have landed at Aberdeen International Airport, to spend a few days at their home in Birkhallin Royal Deeside. The couple particularly love this estate, which they consider theirs”marital home“.
Right within these walls, away from prying eyes, in the English countryside, Carlo had asked for Camilla’s handin the early 2000s, and, after their wedding, in 2005, they spent their honeymoon there, without ever moving or going out. Not being able to return often, and being “finally” King and Queen, the two consider this as a second honeymoon.
“A well-deserved vacation and break from commitments” some tabloids headlined, referring to the hectic months that have just passed, between the disappearance of the Queen Elizabeththe first months on the throne, and the Harry and Meghan affair. Yet, the British think differently, e they turned up their noses at these words.
In such difficult months for the United Kingdom, politically and economically, it is certainly not the time to loosen the grip, Carlo should be very busy and not enjoy the holidays with his wife.
How wrong it is, one might say, because by now the new Sovereign is being targeted on a daily basis, with every move or word, said or presumed. The English don’t like Carloand they never miss an opportunity to underline it.
Carlo breaks a tradition and worsens his situation
The British are also very fond of every tradition of the Royal Family, and with this trip King Charles he broke one very dear to Queen Elizabeth: in fact she used to stay in Norfolk until mid-February, exactly where she spent Christmas with the rest of the family.
His son, on the other hand, after the holidays, flew elsewhere, to his love nest with Camilla, where, on his knees, he asked her to marry him. A romantic gesture, sure, but what he does not like his subjectsthat they would have wanted him, at least this first year, faithful to his mother’s traditions.
A sterile controversy, but one that distinguishes the living English a sense of ownership towards the Royal Family: while on the one hand we can understand the nervousness about extended holidays, it makes no sense to get angry because these take place in one location instead of another.
In short, even 2023 started under a bad star for King Charlesbetween family quarrels and attacks of all sorts, and which will certainly be increasingly affected in the coming months, in view of the coronation ceremony scheduled for May 6th. Will he get there in one piece or will the controversies weaken his figure already in the balance?
