The Rolltones Release New Version of Latvian Song ‘Piekūns skrien debesīs’ in Celebration of National Holiday

“The group “The Rolltones” congratulates Latvia and its people on the holiday by releasing a new version of the song “Piekūns skrien debesīs” – this announcement was received by e-mail a day before the national holiday.

The group “The Rolltones” is an association of professional musicians, in the foreground or at the microphone is Atis Zviedris, who will already be remembered by many as the actor of the role of Lāčplēš in the most recent production of the rock opera “Lāčplēsis” by Zigmar Liepiņš. This time, however, Atis wanted to highlight the contribution of the entire group “The Rolltones”, so he did not even introduce himself in the context of the release of the version of the new song “Pikūns skrien debesīs”.

“Great Latvian music, like a richly laid table, is an inseparable part of celebrating national holidays. “Jauns mēns” songs are usually included in concert programs, and it seemed natural that we would also record one of them in the studio,” the musicians of “The Rolltones” are quoted as saying.

The song “Piekūns skrien debesīs” was recorded in “Auss” studio, sound engineer – Krišs Veismanis, mix – Martiņš Burkevics, producer – Valters Sprudžs.
