The band themselves announced the news on Monday.
Details of the new album will be revealed at an event in Hackney, north-east London, on Wednesday this week. There, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Woods will be interviewed by “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. The event will be streamed live on YouTube at 15.30 Norwegian time. On Monday, the band released a teaser with Fallon on Youtube, and launched the album’s website.
– Hackney may be the heart of “Hackney Diamonds”, but this is a truly global moment that we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube, says a statement from the band.
Monday’s announcement comes in the wake of a cryptic campaign in which the band’s iconic mouth and tongue logo was projected onto the facade of famous landmarks in several cities around the world, including New York, London and Paris.
The previous album release with newly written material, “A Bigger Bang”, was released in 2005.
The new album will be the band’s first since the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021.
