The Rock against Steve Austin is one of the most passionate, important and successful rivalries in WWE history. WrestleMania 19 saw it close in the most spectacular way in a memorable match between the two living legends that ended up being won by The Rock but in which everyone came out the winner. WrestleMania 17 had already seen them fight for the WWE Championship, then “Stone Cold” who took victory to win the title. As had also happened at WrestleMania 15.

The two warriors met on the string more than one hundred and thirty times; The first would still be far removed from the impressive story they had, they were participants in the Royal Rumble 1997 battle royal that Bret Hart ended up winning. They would not meet again until later that year, when they collided in a triple threat tag team matchup on Raw on November 25, with Steve Austin joining forces with Dude Love to defeat The Legion Of Doom and The Nation Of Domination.
