Could fame be the new trump card in American politics? One thing is certain, is that show business and politics have always gone hand in hand. Americans love this association, which has already given two presidents. Ronald Reagan had made a career in Hollywood before joining the White House in 1981. And Donald Trump was already very well known, thanks in particular to reality TV, when he burst into the political arena in 2015.
Today is the actor Dwayne Johnson, alias “The Rock”, which would target the White House. Caitlyn Jenner, from the Kardashian family, has her eyes on California. And actor Matthew McConaughey (True Detective, Interstellar) would have views of Texas. Is being famous now the royal road to playing politics in the United States?
Another actor is in any case the perfect example. After a career in action films, Arnold Schwarzenegger succeeded in 2003 to become governor of California. The “Golden State” is also the land of choice for stars who want to get started. Many stars live there. Dwayne Johnson recently declared: “I will consider running for president if that is what the people want.”
According to a recent poll, 46% of Californians polled would already support it.
