The rock band Skambankt gave up, but will go on a final tour – NRK Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– Now there will soon be no more cake left, says Terje Winterstø Røthing.

He is a vocalist and guitarist and one of the original members of Skambankt.

After over twenty years, ten albums, warm-ups for AC / DC and countless live concerts is it opposite the hard rock band from Jæren.

– We feel we have said what we have to say with Skambankt.

– Did not think that this would be so big

Shameless self-promotion for Ballistic Products and a great bargain on a neat little knife for you when another band could not put on a playing job at Klepp Rock Club.

Røthing, Hans Egil Løe Abelsnes and Tollak Friestad put together nine songs in three hours and went on stage.

– Do they feel that they have achieved what they wanted with the band?

– We have succeeded mykje more. We did not really have any plans to hold on for ten albums. We started as a small, gray duckling and an album that happened to exist. So we got a record deal out of the blue. We had not thought that this would be so big and last so long, says Røthing.

– So the answer to the question is yes. We have achieved more than we could have dreamed of.

Skambankt will play Voodoo live on P3 in 2018.

Intense to run a band

After ten albums and many years on the road, the band feels that there is a time for everything.

– It is something we have known for a while, says Røthing.

– It’s sad, but it feels right, says bassist Tollak Friestad.

Between other pandemics has put extra pressure on the band from Rogaland.

– It has been quite intense. Despite the fact that we have been through a pandemic, we have nevertheless released four albums. It’s been a bit of a tough time running a band.

– It’s pretty immersive to run a band at this level. It takes a lot of time, and maybe you want to spend your time on something else, says the vocalist.

Going on a last trip

Before the band leaves, they, like so many others who have given up before them, go on one last journey.

– We have no plan. We will end in a dignified way, so we will play an extensive tour this summer and in the autumn, and then we will stop while the game is good. Before the host bad.

– We want to go while the game is good and end as a vital band, says Friestad.

From June to October, Skambankt will tour a number of festivals and concert halls, mostly in southern Norway.

– One last journey, as Røthing says.
