At the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on
United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), which will take place on 11-22
November in Baku, Azerbaijan, a significant number will attend
international delegates and experts in order to consolidate efforts on
combating climate change and addressing environmental
challenges.
The countdown to COP29 is sparking a flurry of activity across the board
Azerbaijan. Despite the limited time frame, the country achieved
impressive progress in the preparation method. It was created
COP29 Organizing Committee, which serves as the operational center for
the preparation of the conference. The meetings and consultations with the various
countries and negotiating groups are held bilaterally and multilaterally
formats in which the positions and expectations of the parties to COP29 fall
clarified for the achievement of global solidarity and consensus on
the topics discussed. Much has also been achieved in terms of
logistical preparation – greening of urban areas and expansion
of the infrastructure. As the official start of organizational efforts
COP29 launched an official website and steps were taken to
ensuring efficient and trouble-free organization of participation in
COP29. These include the registration process for the conference, special
COP29 visitor visa service, official accreditation portal of
representatives of the media COP29, radio electronic registration
equipment, allocation of temporary spectrum, reservation
of facilities and infrastructure in the Green Zone for events. In addition
various portals of the centralized have been put into operation
accommodation platform, the functioning of
translation services. During this globally significant event
catering supply and free public transport will be on
placement to ensure a positive experience for thousands
international delegates. It should be noted that along the entire set of
preparatory operations, one of the main objectives of the operator company
through all stages of ongoing activities is to sustain impact
on the environment and the carbon footprint at an acceptable level
minimum.
For sharing details and expectations for global climate
conference with the public will meet the newly created
COP29 Information Center. In addition comes the discovery of
COP29 Academy through which to achieve the smooth empowerment of
youth and the promotion of their active participation in the environmental
education.
Azerbaijan officially took over the presidency of COP29 in December
2023 and the organizers preparing the agenda present their goals to
key local and international stakeholders, incl
colleagues from the UAE (COP28) and Brazil (COP30). In the direction of the strengthening of
an internationally favorable environment between the UAE, Azerbaijan and Brazil,
hosts the COP successively 2023-2025, the Troika format was established
for cooperation.
On the eve of COP29, Azerbaijan will host a Pre-COP meeting
on October 10-11, which will welcome representatives of negotiators
groups and constituencies to discuss the agenda and more
key questions. A total of 60 documents are scheduled to be accepted in
framework of COP29, covering topics such as energy, agriculture,
technology and others.

profound global significance. It encourages inclusive dialogue,
highlights the potential of developing economies, encourages
regional cooperation and promotes innovation in renewables
energy sources. By demonstrating their efforts and achievements,
Azerbaijan can inspire global climate action
and demonstrate the importance of an inclusive international
cooperation. As the world gathers in Azerbaijan for COP 29,
the conference serves as an effective reminder of the collective
a responsibility we share to address climate change and
protecting our planet for future generations.
