The same sources in China say that the company’s new console would be a rival for the PlayStation 4 or 5 and the new Xbox. However, until this console launches, Huawei would “Try the sea with your finger”. Specifically, he would plan to launch gaming laptops in the coming months. Huawei is already active in the business laptop segment, I really have tested such a notebook last year.
At the same time, before Honor to be sold, the company launched the series of gaming laptops Hunter. Those models came with top features, RGB lighting and attractive design. They had NVIDIA RTX 2060 graphics cards, Intel Core i7 (Gen10) processors, up to 16GB of RAM and storage of up to 1TB via SSD. Currently, Huawei has launched in 2021 the MateBook X Pro, MateBook 13 and 14 models with 11th generation Intel processors (details here).
Nor can we say that it would be the company’s first console. It seems that in 2014, Huawei launched a gaming console called Huawei Tron, but only on the Chinese market. It ran Android and didn’t debut globally after all.
I don’t know what to say about a future console, but the rumor about new gaming notebooks is promising. Last year, the demand for laptops increased considerably, given that many people worked from home and learned from home. Most likely, this growth will continue in 2021. Huawei could expand its portfolio in this segment, as it does not currently offer high-level gaming solutions.
