After PrahaIN.cz published an analysis that concerned the gastro industry, three readers contacted our editorial office. It was soups. According to the analysis, it is precisely those that are increasing in price the fastest. This is an increase of 51 percent since 2019. In 2019, they cost an average of 36 crowns, now 54 crowns. But in Prague, they are also sold at multiples of the price.

“On the weekend, my family and I were at Prague Castle, then we went past the restaurant Terasa u Zlatá Studně. I heard she is a good cook. And that it has a beautiful view of Prague,” the man wrote to us in connection with the prices.

“I looked at the menu, and when I saw that they had soups for 420 crowns, I immediately disappeared,” he added.

Chef Lukáš Hlaváček cooks in the aforementioned restaurant. We really found soups for 420 crowns on the menu. There are two, Roasted Onion and Beef Tail Consommé and Shellfish Bisque.

Czech butchers once spread the fame of quality sausages and meat products. Every village, city and district had its masters who were proud of their…

Another reader wrote to us that he saw pea cream for 295 crowns in the Aureole restaurant in Nuslí. “I wondered if they were joking. What can be so expensive about pea soup?” he stated.

The Coda restaurant on Malá Strana also has expensive soups. There are two on the menu. Kuladju with forest mushrooms and broth from a farm hen. Both cost the same 330 crowns.

Tasty and expensive

We were also alerted to the Pot-au-feu restaurant in Rybná Street in the Old Town, where Jan Kracík is the chef and owner. A reader drew our attention to this as well.

Here they serve a traditional Provençal soup, Bouillabaisse, which contains various types of cooked fish, shellfish, vegetables and herbs.

You can have it in the mentioned restaurant for 595 crowns.

We thought no one could beat this business for the price. But we were wrong. The winner was the restaurant Ungelt, which is located in the Týn courtyard, just a few steps from the Old Town Square.

Bouillabaisse Marseillais served with Rouille sauce costs 640 crowns here.

For those who would like to have soup here, the menu also includes creamy crayfish for 290 crowns or sauvignon blanc for 320 crowns.

The same restaurant also serves a tasting menu, which costs 2,400 crowns per person.
