Phones are getting more expensive

Phone prices have risen in recent years. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S8 cost 799 euros when it was launched in 2017, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a suggested retail price of 1399 euros this year. A significant difference! These price increases can be attributed to several factors, such as higher development costs and the integration of new technologies, such as foldable screens, in-screen fingerprint scanners and other innovations.

In addition to technological developments, external circumstances also play a role in price increases. The corona pandemic and conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine, have affected the production and supply of electronic devices, including telephones. As a result, price increases and delivery problems are the order of the day. Manufacturers are trying to catch up on production backlogs, which is contributing to the price increases.

Despite the price increases, there is also good news for consumers. Phones are getting better and more durable. In the middle segment there are phones that are not much inferior to high-end models in terms of performance and possibilities, but are offered at a more affordable price. In addition, phones often receive longer updates and the components continue to be improved, making them last longer. This gives consumers more value for money and reduces the need to regularly purchase new phones.
