Ungaran –
In recent years buses with double glass have dominated the transportation industry in Indonesia. But now, buses with a single windshield or single glass are trending again. Why?
One of the single glass bus trends is being brought back by the Laksana car body. At the last GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) exhibition, the automaker from Ungaran released a new Legacy SR3 Panorama bus model with a single glass windshield concept.
Commercial Director of Laksana, Alvin Arman explained, currently there is indeed a shift in trends in the bus body industry in Indonesia. For example in Laksana, if previously they made 100% of buses with double glass windshields, now the portion is 50% single glass buses and 50% double glass buses.
“Now there are 50:50 fans of single glass and double glass. There has indeed been a shift in trend. In the past, it was 100% (consumers chose) double glass,” Alvin told the media some time ago.

Buses with single glass windshields are indeed very comfortable for passengers, especially those in the front row. Because the front view is not blocked by the bando bulkhead, so passengers can be satisfied seeing the view ahead.
“Functionally, in terms of comfort, single glass is better (for passengers),” continued Alvin.
However, when viewed from the exterior, the appearance of the double glass bus does seem more manly than the single glass bus. Even in terms of maintenance, buses with double glass windows are also quite pocket-friendly if the windshield is damaged, because it doesn’t need to be completely replaced.
“For double glass, if the glass is broken at the bottom, that part is replaced, not the top,” said Alvin.
