Wages on roofs are rising: roofers in the region are getting more money. The hourly wage for journeymen will rise to 21.12 euros from October. This is announced by the Construction-Agrar-Environment Industrial Union (IG BAU). “This means that a roofer has around 105 euros more in his wallet at the end of the month if he works full time,” says Ilse Bruttel. The district chairwoman of IG BAU Südbaden is now calling on employees to check their next pay slip.
According to the employment agency, the change applies to numerous employees in the region (Freiburg: five roofing companies with currently around 90 employees; Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, 30 roofing companies with currently around 300 employees; Emmendingen district, eight roofing companies; Ortenaukreis: 27 roofing companies with currently around 200 employees ; Lörrach district ten roofing companies with currently around 70 employees; Waldshut district four roofing companies with currently around 50 employees and in the Schwarzwald-Baar district 27 roofing companies with currently around 220 employees).
“The bar for fair wages on the roof has been set. Everyone who works in a company that is part of the roofing guild receives the wage bonus. Of course, this also means that the roofer himself is in the union,” says Ilse Bruttel from IG BAU Südbaden. For the coming year, IG BAU and the Central Association of the German Roofing Trade (ZVDH) have also agreed on a new industry minimum wage: “The minimum wage should then be 15.60 euros per hour.
