Goes on the growth of hybrid cars on the Italian market. With 198,971 units registered from January to April (+32.1% compared to the same quarter of 2022), electric-thermal dual technology cars now account for 35.5% of deliveries. Not only that: to these are added the 25,149 plug-in registered in that period (+10.4%), for a further market share of 4.5%. The lion’s share, however, goes to the simplest and cheapest mild hybrid, with 146,908 units (+33.7%), which alone represent more than one out of four small cars, i.e. 26.2% (Unrae data). Until recently, hybrid cars were white flies in the general panorama of the car market, but if today we talk about success, the credit also goes to some “pioneer” models, capable of ferrying this technology from the niche to the general public. We talk about it in greater detail in our image gallery, where we have collected some historic cars of this type, from the very first hybrid to a recent car, with a rather unusual internal combustion engine.
