The Rise of Flu Vaccine Interest and Decline in COVID-19 Vaccination: ANSP Reports

The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) says that the flu vaccines procured for this year are running out, showing increased interest among people to protect themselves from the common flu. Vaccination against COVID-19, by contrast, is declining against a backdrop of post-pandemic fatigue.

The ANSP told Free Europe that by December 1, 98 percent of the 200,000 flu vaccine doses available this year had been administered.

Influenza vaccines were administered to people in risk categories, those with chronic diseases of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system and diabetes, people over 65 years old, medical personnel, police officers, pregnant women and children from 6 months must be vaccinated against flu.

As of December 5, only one case of influenza has been recorded. On the other hand, the number of cases of COVID-19 is increasing and vaccination is decreasing.

In the last week, the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus increased 2.3 times. 508 people were diagnosed with the Sars-Cov-2 virus between November 27 and December 3. In this interval, 2 deaths were also recorded.

So far, 2,268,473 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered. Anticovid vaccination decreased this year, when 18,738 vaccine doses were administered. Around 200 people are vaccinated weekly, according to ANSP data.

Currently, at the ANSP National Vaccine Warehouse there are over 28 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccine for children over 12 years old, over 1,500 doses of Pfizer vaccine for adults and 25,905 doses of Sinovac vaccine. National coverage with the full scheme is 31.5%.
