At the start of the activity of the small farm located in Grignan, the company only produced flowers (lavender) as well as essential oils, the production was mainly used by perfumers from Grasse.

With the arrival in 2005 of his son, Nicolas Ruth, in the company, Durance took a turning point. The young boss is developing by taking Provence as a source of inspiration. Durance will then produce interior perfumes and above all a range of cosmetics, including the famous scented candle, its emblematic and historic product.

An ecological range

The company very quickly committed to sustainable development by favoring natural ingredients, including beeswax or vegetable wax (96% of cosmetics come from natural products). The company even had the luxury of producing its own “Durance” rose, in La Bégude-de-Mazenc (commune in Drôme). Durance also offers other products, perfume and a range of body care (Durance, Collines de Provence, Florame and finally Parfums de Garrigues).

A booming market

Market specialists are targeting an annual growth rate of 5.6% between 2023 and until 2028. Durance, a beautiful French company, should also benefit from the French craze for scented candles, to see its figure business explode.
