The increase in the price of natural gas from September may be a little more than the currently projected 17 percent. The reason is that the calculations were made two weeks ago, and during this period the stock prices of blue fuel continue to rise. This became clear during the discussion of the proposal for the new price of the state gas supplier in the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).

“The prices on the European gas markets continue to rise compared to the prices of the previous months, and this is significant, reaching record levels for the last years,” said Bulgargaz CEO Nikolay Pavlov.

Gas prices may exceed 17%

“I hope that even if there is an increase, it will be insignificant. Bulgargaz’s forecast price for September is expected to be close to or over 20 percent lower than the average price of European gas hubs for delivery in September,” Pavlov said. .

“Between 10 and 11 euros for European gas hubs, the price is higher for futures with delivery for the month of September than what you offer to Bulgarian consumers,” said Ivan Ivanov.

Over the last year, the price of natural gas has increased by over 150%. For comparison, natural gas in September 2020 cost BGN 22.46 / mWh. Experts noted in July that Gazprom supplied less of the EU’s raw materials despite demand and higher prices, and suspected special tactics behind the behavior.

Russia’s Kommersant newspaper announced today that the giant has started supplying gas through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline after an accident on it, and this will allow the company itself to fill its storage facilities in Europe, whose reserves have fallen to a historic low of about 10-12% occupancy.
