Oil prices on world markets also fell on Wednesday. Even so, prices remain around $ 70 a barrel, which is quite high.

The price of Brent North Sea crude oil fell by 1.4 percent to $ 71.37 per barrel around 5 pm CET. At the same time, the American light oil West Texas Intermediate (WTI) depreciated as much as 2.1 percent to $ 69.11 per barrel.

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced on Wednesday that US oil reserves rose 3.6 million barrels to 439.2 million last week. Analysts in a Reuters poll predicted that inventories would show a decline of 3.1 million barrels.

In addition, the United States and China, the world’s two largest oil consumers, are currently facing a growing number of new cases of coronavirus delta infection, which analysts say will reduce fuel demand.
