On September 5, 1939, Australian actor George Robert was born, who is 84 years old to date, known for having played James Bond in the film “Al Lazenby on Her Majesty’s Secret Service” in 1969″, being the youngest actor to embody to this character.
Before acting in this film, he was a salesman and ski instructor, a musician who was part of the group “The Corvettes” and a sergeant in his country’s army special forces. In 1964 he got a modeling job in London, becoming by 1968 the highest paid model in the world. In seeking the choice of who should replace Sean Connery in the role of James Bond, he was chosen for the role because of his physical presence and resemblance to his predecessor.
Despite the critical and box office success of his film, his egocentric attitude did not allow him to repeat himself in the saga, being immediately replaced by actor Roger Moore. Later his career fell apart, participating in low-quality films such as some sequels to “Emanuelle” and Karate films.
