This intimate, so particular way of evoking loved ones is the main element of ‘Preserving memory’, as explained by TEM in a statement.
This is the third show of the Riojan group that, in the words of those responsible, “arises from the need to bring the public stories that spring from our emotion in the face of everyday life, in the face of what surrounds us, stories that matter to us.”
In ‘Conservando memoria’, actress Izaskun Fernández tells viewers the stories of her grandparents and grandmothers, who she spent a lot of time asking about the little things that defined them and made them happy. As he does so, he surrounds himself with his images and a series of memories placed in glass jars.
The proposal, recommended for audiences of all ages from ten years old, offers the little ones a different and poetic vision of loss, helping them to appreciate the legacy of our elders after their departure.
A work made “with respect and delicacy”, which provides “a magical component to the traditional theater of objects” and that last year received the award for the best authorship at FETEN, the European Fair of Performing Arts for Boys and Girls of Gijón , considered the most important in all of Europe.
Izaskun Fernández, creator of the show together with Julián Sáenz-López, stressed that “this trip is a game of questions” to their grandparents and grandmothers. “My desire to keep them with me, my personal pirouette to avoid the absence, a tribute to four important people in my life, my desire to preserve their memory, to dull it, “he said.
