The Rills Announce Debut Album ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ With Euphoric Single ‘Angel In The Snow’

The Rills have announced the upcoming release of their debut album ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’, along with a catchy new single ‘Angel In The Snow’.

Earlier this year, Lincoln released the single “I Don’t Wanna Be,” which they described as “a story of unapologetic self-affirmation and overcoming the limiting mentality of small-town life.”

They’ve now shared the final track from their upcoming debut album. ‘Angel In The Snow’ sees them leaving on a bittersweet note, with anthemic guitars and poignant lyricism.Angel in the snow, you can’t melt / Never seen again, but I know you won’t”, sings singer Mitch Spencer in the chorus.

“The overriding feeling I get from listening to this song is hope,” Spencer explains. “It’s one of the more melancholic songs on the album, but it has a sense of closure. It’s definitive.” He describes the track as “the best snapshot of the whole album: self-aware, angsty, but ultimately hopeful.”

“Don’t Be A Stranger” is set for release on November 1st via AWAL and Nice Swan Recordings. You can pre-order here.

In 2021, the group spoke with ZikNation on how growing up in Lincoln impacted their music. Citing his heroes, bassist Callum Warner Webb told us that Arctic Monkeys’ 2006 song “Perhaps Vampires Is A Bit Strong But…” sums up what he thinks of The Rills.

“Alex Turner sings about the advice he gets from people who tell him to just play local pub gigs,” he explains. “It makes you think, ‘No, I’m not going to limit myself to a situation where it makes sense to be in a band in a small town. I’m going to completely go against that idea, even if it kills me.’”

“As a fellow Yellowbelly Lincolnite, this writer has literally been there, but you don’t need to have seen our cathedral city to get goosebumps when this surprise mandolin kicks in and makes small-town life all the more epic.”
