/ world today news/ This is a party of a former member of the BSP and Doncheva, today a fan of Radev and new faces
The two serving ministers have refrained from accepting the “New Alternative” of Nikolay Tsonev as a mandate holder – perhaps because of his participation in the government of the triple coalition and the court cases in which he was acquitted in 3 instances
The president made his first comment about the new political power of the “Hardward favorites”, but for him it was still a “hypothesis” – the BSP did not like this answer
“Anyone who is looking for a political solution to the problems in Bulgaria must first of all seek support among the Bulgarian citizens.”
This first comment on the unborn project of the head of state probably encourages the two serving ministers to make a party.
And Andrey Raichev already predicts that already in the elections in November, the new political project could take away 300-400 thousand votes from the other parties and become a medium-sized political force in the next parliament.
Raichev has been actively advertising the new party for days, and his optimism for it came from the fact that Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev already had the support of over 100,000 people in a Facebook group.
However, in order to be able to participate in these early elections, the two new politicians – serving ministers, need an already registered party, since there is no time for the establishment and court registration of a new one.
A similar mechanism was used in 2001 for the NDSV of Simeon of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to appear in elections. Businessman Vasil Bozhkov, who fled to Dubai, also uses another party’s registration for the vote on April 4, after the court did not register his on time.
There are two options
had for a party
which to give
your registration
of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev, learned “24 chasa”.
One was the “New Alternative” party of the former Minister of Defense Nikolay Tsonev. The name of the former Minister of Defense in the government of Sergey Stanishev and the triple coalition was also heavily mentioned for an important post in the current caretaker government – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office… However, Tsonev recently took over the supervisory board of the State water holding, which operates with over 1 billion BGN.
So far, there is no public explanation why the ex-military minister, who is said to be extremely close to the presidential team, did not get a place on one of the floors of power.
According to informed sources, Kiril Petkov’s team has been discussing the possibility of the new party appearing with the registration of his “New Alternative” for weeks. However, she was rejected by the new politicians as unsuitable. One of the reasons – that its creator Nikolay Tsonev was part of a government in which DPS is the third coalition partner. In addition, the long legal saga of accusations of corruption against the former Minister of Defense, although it ended with his acquittal in three instances, was not a good sign for Kiril Petkov’s potential voters.
In parallel with the talks with “New Alternative”, another mandate holder was being actively sought. Unofficially, the election stopped at the Political Party “Morality, initiative and patriotism” (MIR). Its founder and leader since 2018 is the former capital municipal councilor, who went through BSP and Tatiana Doncheva’s “Movement 21”, Simeon Slavchev.
It is persons from MIR who are currently conducting negotiations with those who are interested in participating in Kiril Petkov’s political project. This was shared by two already invited politicians and a businessman.
According to their explanations, the new project is mainly looking for people with already established careers and a good name, and politically, both left-wing sympathizers and those with the profile of “Democratic Bulgaria” are attracted.
And the former head of the president’s office Rumen Radev Kaloyan Metodiev announced a few days ago that activists are already traveling around the country looking for like-minded people of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev. His prediction is also that
the project of
official ones
ministers will
appeared on
the early ones
parliamentary
elections
The two likely leaders have been repeating for days that they will announce their intentions after the dissolution of the caretaker government and the appointment of a new one.
“Official talks have not been held,” commented Slavchev yesterday, when contacted by a “24 Chasa” reporter. However, he immediately clarified that if he was asked, he would do everything that was good for the country. Slavchev also developed his vision for such a project around the two ministers. (See interview with MIR leader below).
The 43-year-old from Varna entered politics through the youth BSP. However, he left the Socialists in 2013 together with Tatyana Doncheva. Subsequently, he became a municipal councilor in Sofia from its “Movement 21”, but in 2017 he left it as well, explaining that only Doncheva’s word should be listened to in the movement.
Slavchev founded PP MIR in 2018 and announced it as the youngest party, with the impressive number of experts in it as a special distinguishing feature.
Slavchev himself introduces himself as an engineer, as he is a graduate of industrial management at the Technical University in Sofia. He also went through training at the Institute for Social Integration of the political scientists Zhivko Georgiev and Antoniy Todorov and at the School of Politics at the NBU.
After the founding of the MIR party, he participated in the local elections in 2019, and according to Slavchev, he won a mayoral seat in Botevgrad and several other smaller municipalities. In fact, MIR does not have its own mayor, but it has given support to some of the elected ones.
The first national elections in which Slavchev’s party participates are the regular parliamentary vote on April 4. Then
PEACE wins
3653 votes,
which is a result
from 0.11%
After the elections, it is the only party that announces its cashiering and the introduction of fully machine voting.
In the early elections on July 11, when the elections are already held entirely by machines, Slavchev’s party takes 3,427 votes, but this is already 0.13% of those who voted.
The leader of MIR is an outspoken supporter of President Rumen Radev, having already on February 2 announced his organization’s support for the head of state’s candidacy for a second term. Radev needs such support to found an initiative committee to promote him.
Slavchev also proclaimed as his political platform the imposition of new persons in the management of the country.
“There is too much talk about this hypothesis.
No reason to
comment on her
before she does
become a fact”
Rumen Radev responded yesterday to the BSP’s calls to announce whether he supports Kiril Petkov’s political project. The Socialists reacted as if stung, after on Tuesday the caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev announced his support for a possible project of his two ministers and said he would vote for them. The BSP accepts Yanev as Radev’s spokesman, and according to the Reds, his words about the new political project were not accidental.
The head of state refused to answer the question whether Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev are expected to participate in the next cabinet, which Radev must appoint within days. The inclusion of the two in a new government will delay their political ambitions.
Simeon Slavchev, leader of the MIR party:
A new platform should unite all those who think and work for the country
Official talks have not been held with us, but if they ask us, we will do everything that is good and beneficial for the country. This would rather be a project of Bulgaria, not of the president
– Mr. Slavchev, it is said that your party MIR will give its registration for participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections to the future political project around Kiril Petkov and Asen Vasilev. Have there been any discussions with you about this?
– No. No formal talks have taken place. If someone turns to MIR, we will do everything that is good and in favor of Bulgaria.
MIR is established
precisely for this purpose
– to unite
the potential of
the Bulgarian one
nation,
this is our main goal since the establishment of the party. And I will do everything possible to unite the entire elite and potential of the Bulgarian nation for the benefit of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people. Especially since we have proven that we are people of action, not of populism.
The time has come when Bulgaria needs statesmen, not politicians who seek only their own interest and political dividends.
– And the creation of a party around Petkov and Vassilev will benefit the Bulgarian people?
– I say what the goal of the MIR party is and it will assist in this. It is a matter of conversations, policies and priorities.
It is a pity that in recent months the parliamentary parties did not sit down at the same table to determine which are the main priorities in the country, around which to unite, so that Bulgaria can move forward. This is one of the main goals of MIR and we have repeatedly stated that
we are ready to
we mediate
between the parties,
the civil and
the non-governmental ones
organizations,
we communicate with many people from small and medium businesses. And we are ready to mediate this dialogue.
– You were one of the first to announce your support for the second term of President Rumen Radev back in February, and you have always demonstrated this. Will the creation of a new political project actually be a presidential party?
– The fact is that MIR was the first party to support President Rumen Radev for a second term. We did it on a principled basis, having repeatedly stated that
the only one
moral pillar
in society
is Radev
The president has proven in the last 5 years that he acts on principle and consistently.
I cannot say whether Radev will do his own project. As president he personifies the unity of the nation, he is supra-party. And I don’t think that would be the president’s project. He can, with his authority, with his personal and consistent position, help to have a dialogue between the political forces, but I am not sure that this would be his project. This would rather be a project of Bulgaria, not of the president.
– If this is not a project of the president, then why would you stand as the bearer of the registration for his participation in the elections?
– A political platform must be created, which does not necessarily have to be from one party, in which politicians, citizens and civil and non-governmental organizations can communicate and conduct dialogue. And to define the main priorities around which we can all unite. Because what the current National Assembly needs, as well as the previous one, is exactly that – a lack of any priorities and policies. Yes, the judiciary is an extremely important priority, but it cannot be fundamental.
Founder
priority can
to be how
the Bulgarian one
economy yes
become operational
and effective, because from there all things follow.
– So it is certain that there will be a new political entity for these elections?
– I can’t confirm for sure. But I say again – the MIR party and I personally would assist in the creation of this platform, which would truly become a new beginning for Bulgaria and unite all people who think about the country, who actually work for it. Because the change in the 45th and 46th NS is a replacement, it is not a change. And Bulgarian citizens are already aware of the need for such a platform.
My personal opinion is that it should not belong to only one party, to a few politicians. It should be very wide.
– From which parties will she attract voters, from which part of the political spectrum – left, right, center?
– From the entire spectrum, because this platform will be national, not narrow-party. It will unite many people with different views, regardless of whether they are left- or right-thinking.
– When will this platform be announced?
– I can not tell you. I repeat again – no such conversation was held with me. But if it is fought with us, we are ready to cooperate and do everything possible to make it happen. Especially since this is one of our main goals for the creation of MIR. And although it is slow and difficult, we are fundamentally and consistently moving forward.
