At the time when Sigmar Gabriel was still politically responsible, there was regular, irregular exchange between him and me. Sigmar Gabriel was interested in what a school principal believes are all about school and how we need to think and shape this in the future. I also systematically wrote down my ideas for the future in 2012. Now we are at the end of a more than difficult time for schoolchildren, for teachers and generally for the education of all children and young people. I looked again at what I wrote almost ten years ago. And you won’t be surprised to hear that most of it is still brand new. I want to report on such future ideas for schools in this and the following columns. It begins how all thinking has to begin, with the basis beyond discussion:
