On October 20 and 21, 2023, the annual security and foreign policy forum will be held in person and online at the National Library of Latvia Riga Conference 2023but already on October 19, security and protection specialists, students and anyone interested will be welcomed in specially organized additional discussions in person at the National Library of Latvia.
European Union Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton will address the conference participants (Thierry Breton), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš, Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds, former President of Latvia (1999–2007) Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, Director of Northern Europe at the Atlantic Council Anna Vīslander (Anna Wieslander) etc. The conference will be opened by the State President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevičs.
The event will be broadcast live on the website www.rigaconference.lv and will also be broadcast by thirty media partners and social media platforms.
Since 2006, the conference has been one of the most important discussion platforms on security and foreign policy in the Baltic Sea region. This year’s focus is on the prospect of a smart wartime economy in Europe, European security, including women leaders’ agenda for peace and security in times of global geopolitical turmoil, the Transatlantic Partnership and its strategy at war, NATO’s future plans, artificial intelligence and technology challenges. At the end of a difficult geopolitical year in the world, the conference will analyze the strategy of the transatlantic partners for the Indo-Pacific region, as well as many other important elements of security and defense.

A wider audience will be able to follow the live broadcast of the main session on the Riga conference website, as well as Facebook, YouTube and other internet platforms in Latvia and international media.
The Riga conference is organized by the Transatlantic Organization of Latvia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Defense, in close cooperation with the Public Diplomacy Department of NATO, the representation of the European Commission in Latvia and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The conference is supported by the US Embassy in Latvia, the Embassy of Georgia in Latvia, the Embassy of Israel in Latvia, the Embassy of Canada in Latvia, the Embassy of Turkey in Latvia, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Latvia and the Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Latvia, as well as our long-term partner Riga City Council.
