All categories returned last Sunday (8 January 2022) to Le Lamentin. The women, cadets, minors, juniors and seniors have completed their early season warm-ups. The goal for the regional cycling committee is to further raise the level of the riders so that this year without the Covid crisis, is crowned “with Martinican victories abroad”.
More than 120 cyclists, all categories combined, at the start on Sunday at Le Lamentin. The goal of Alfred Defontis, president of the regional cycling committee, is to keep up the pressure for better results and instill a good dynamic in the various clubs in Martinique.
I encourage clubs to continue their sports policy in order to be even more competitive outside.

35 runners at the start, on a 105 km route. The circle of Team Velo Matnik/Team Energizer, places 4 riders in the top 10. Norman Latouche (photo) is the winner in the Elite category. He finished the course around Le Lamentin in 2 hours 36 minutes and 33 seconds. IHe is ahead of his teammate Guillaume Gabouriaux. Madinina Bikers’ Laurent Néror finished third.
We worked well during the off-season, our coach David Bernard created a good structure, we put all our ego aside for the team.

This year the girls have also arrived to swell the group. There are 22 all categories and clubs combined. A crowd well received by the regional committee who also intend to line up these competitors for the French Overseas Championship to be held this year in New Caledonia.

We’ll have to wet the shirt next weekend. Two races are scheduled at Le François and Le Saint Esprit.
