Contaminations have dropped very sharply in Lyon and in the Rhône department.
For a long time, the Rhône was one of the departments of France where covid-19 circulated the most. During months. It is now the opposite. Contaminations have largely dropped in the department.
The circulation of the virus at time t in a territory is measured using the incidence rate. It is a key indicator. The incidence rate determines the number of positive cases over the last 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants. Over a rolling week. It is a very good way to measure the degree of circulation of the virus, at a given moment, in a territory.
7 times fewer cases of covid-19 today than a month ago in Lyon
In the Rhone departmentaccording to the latest stabilized figures as of Saturday February 19, the incidence rate is 590 (the data therefore takes into account the period between Sunday February 13 and Saturday February 19). This rate was 4 655 peak on Friday, January 21. In summary, there are 7 times fewer cases of covid-19 today than a month ago.

For several days, the drop in contamination was not reflected in the hospital. There is always a lag between the peak of contaminations and the peak of hospitalizations. Finally, it has also been falling in hospitals in the region for ten days.
In the HCL (Hospices Civils de Lyon), as of February 22, there are 362 people hospitalized and positive for covid-19. That is 130 people less than the previous week, a very sharp drop. At the height of the fifth wave, the HCLs counted more than 558 covid-positive patients.
A similar dynamic is found in intensive care. They are 40, on February 22, to present serious cases of covid-19, against 50 the previous week. This represents 29% of patients in intensive care.
