“Cinema against the right” is the motto on Thursday, May 4th, again in the Potsdam Film Museum. Director Offer Avnon will drop by for the theatrical premiere of “The Rhine flows into the Mediterranean”.
After ten years in Germany, the filmmaker Offer Avnon returns to Haifa, reviews his time there between the Rhine and the Neisse, but also looks at his homeland with a different perspective. Through what traumas does the Holocaust live on, which he, the son of a Polish survivor, could not forget for a single moment in Germany? Which mechanisms of repression work for the relatives of the perpetrators and for those of the victims? How is the perception, the consciousness, the memory of the individual shaped by his affiliation to a nation, a religion or a political group?
