The RFEF approves eliminating the extension in the Super Cup

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has taken preventive measures this Thursday in order to take care of the health of the players. “The Delegate Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation has approved a modification in the Regulatory Bases and Competition Rules to eliminate the extra time of the Spanish Super Cups, both in their men’s and women’s formats. With this modification, the RFEF responds to the requests of clubs participating in these tournaments and tries to alleviate the minutes of competition for footballers as it has already done in other competitions such as the HM the King’s Cup or the Federation Cup and in line with what which is being implemented in other similar competitions at the European and world level,” explains the Federation in a statement. In this way, if a match is tied at the end of regulation time, it will be decided directly in a penalty shootout.
