Although the hyperloop is supposed to allow transport at speeds of up to about a thousand kilometers per hour, in the test they were only moving at a speed of 172 km / h. The test track is 500 m long and both people spent 15 seconds in the capsule.

Virgin Hyperloop is not the only company to develop this transport system, but it is the first to put people in a capsule during tests.

Luchian told the BBC that the test was “exciting mentally and physically”. She added that the road was smooth and did not resemble a roller coaster, although the acceleration was sharper than it would be on a longer route. Neither she nor Giegel was sick, she added.

Behind the idea of the hyperloop is Elon Musk, who came up with the idea of transferring the magnetic train system into a pipe from which air would be pumped out. This would make it possible to increase the speed, because in a vacuum the aerodynamic drag would be eliminated.

The system, for example, which would allow people to be transported between London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports in four minutes, has been widely criticized for needing to build complex pipeline infrastructure to extract air.
