The revolt of the New York delivery men

Underpaid, overexploited, victims of bicycle theft and road accidents … New York Magazine devotes its cover to the delivery of the Big Apple, forced to organize to survive.

They are “Some 65,000 to pedal every day” in the Big Apple for delivery platforms like DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Seamless or Relay, underline the New York Magazine.

“Exploited by delivery apps, attacked by thieves and ignored by the police, they can only rely on themselves to defend themselves”, notes the New York weekly which has followed their efforts to unite and organize.

the New York Magazine notably went to meet two groups, called the “Deliveryboys” and “Los Deliveristas Unidos”, who are trying to fight to improve the working conditions of delivery people.

Between little tricks for “Endure the cold or the heat wave”, demonstrations to protest against their invisibility, street self-defense strategies and meetings with the NYPD – the New York police department – to be better protected against theft and assault, the harsh reality of these shadow workers is revealed.
