A few weeks ago we told you about the plans of the French company Legende Automobiles to revive the classic Renault 5 Turbo, keeping the classic design of the model, but combining it with new technologies. At that time, the company shared only a few photos that showed the front and rear of the model, but now we have more information and technical characteristics of the third version of the Renault 5 Turbo.
The exterior of the model has remained almost identical to that of the original, with the differences being mainly in the lights, which already use LED technology. The body is made of carbon to keep the weight as low as possible. The wheels also have a classic design, but come in sizes of 16 and 17 inches.
The suspension uses dual struts at the front and rear, and the company says this is a modern reference to the configuration of the racing Renault 5 Maxi Turbo.
The interior is also intertwined with retro motifs and modern technology, with the impression of a digital display that replaces the classic analog instruments. Sports seats and the so-called roll cage or racing cage also come standard at the hot hatch. Behind them is the engine, which is only mentioned as four-cylinder and generates 400 horsepower. The rear tires are driven, and a modern sequential or manual transmission with 5 gears depends on the customer’s choice. Depending on the wishes of the customer and the donor car, other engines can be used, but this is subject to further discussion with Legende Automobiles.
