After a five-year break, the Lada Granta returned to the AVTOVAZ lineup in the “charged” Sport version. Such cars were produced from 2013 to 2018, but after the Grants restyling, this project was closed, giving preference to Vesta Sport. However, plans changed again, and in the spring of this year, VAZ showed prototypes of the revived Lada Granta Sport, and now they have announced the start of sales. Moreover, now only a sedan is offered, but also a liftback. Previously, five-door cars were made only to order: for example, in 2014, two Sport liftbacks were built to manage the affairs of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
As before, the main features of the Sport version were the engine and suspension. Under the hood there is a forced sixteen-valve 1.6 engine: its intake and exhaust systems have been changed, the timing and fuel system have been modified, and new firmware for the control unit has been prepared. Maximum power is the same 118 hp as before 2018. The suspension has original springs and shock absorbers. This made it possible to reduce the ground clearance by 20 mm (for the standard Granta it is 180 mm). Disc brakes are installed on both axles. Also, special soft tires are homologated for this Granta.
From the outside, the Granta Sport can be distinguished from the standard one by modified bumpers, sill trims and a spoiler at the rear. This body kit has an aerodynamic design: AVTOVAZ promises a reduction in lift and better distribution of it along the axles. The interior features two-tone sports seats with increased lateral support, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a red zero mark on the rim. The gauges on the dashboard have a red border instead of the standard orange.
Prices have already been announced. The Lada Granta Sport sedan will cost 1 million 250 thousand rubles, and the liftback is 40 thousand more expensive: 1 million 290 thousand rubles. Equipment includes two airbags, ABS, air conditioning, heated front seats and mirrors, an audio system and front electric windows. The cars have already started arriving at Lada dealers, but they haven’t appeared everywhere yet. We contacted several Moscow car dealerships, and one seller reported that there was no information yet about the exact start date of deliveries. Although in another place we were told that the cars had already arrived at the warehouse and were ready for pickup.
