The first-person shooter XIII has become something of a cult classic, and therefore met the news that the game would get a remaster with equal parts skepticism and joy. The skeptics, however, had every reason to worry, because when the game was released, it was clear that it was a ready mess who failed to capture the slightest hint of the original’s charm. That was two years ago, and not much has happened since then – but that will soon change.
In a press release says the publisher Microid that they have handed over the development of the game to the French studio Tower Five, instead of Playmagic. For over a year, they have been working on a major update to the game that, among other things, will improve its graphic style – which has received strong criticism for not living up to the original comic book-like design – the AI and other technical aspects. The game will also have online multiplayer for up to 13 players.
This will be released as a free update to all versions of the game on September 13, and on the same day, the Nintendo Switch version will also be released (which also includes this new update).
