The Return of the Polish Rally to the World Rally Championship in 2024

We already announced that the Polish Rally, which last took place in the WRC Championship in 2017, could return to the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC). After 2017, the Polish stage left the WRC calendar due to repeated violations of spectator safety regulations.

Former Formula 1 and rally driver Robert Kubica, 2022 WRC2 champion Kajetan Kajetanović and Mikolaj Marcik took part in the press conference in Mikolajkos on Monday. It has been officially confirmed that next year’s Polish WRC Rally will take place from 27 to 30 June.

“Our aim has always been to return the Polish Rally to the World Championship. We are happy and proud that the efforts of the Polish Automobile Association have been crowned with success, thanks to the organization of the rally at the highest level, confirmed by the FIA ​​reports, as well as the very good cooperation with ORLEN SA, our title sponsor and a reliable long-term partner,” said Michal Sikora, president of the Polish Automobile Association.

“Rally’s promotion to the WRC series is certainly a dream come true for the fans who, as always, will fill the safe spectator areas prepared for them to admire stars such as Kalli Rowanper, Sébastien Ogier, Ott Tanaka, Thierry Neuville and Elphin Evans. Already intensive work is underway on the 80th anniversary stage of the rally, which will be an excellent sporting event for everyone.”

Initially, the WRC hoped that next year WRC rounds could be held in Saudi Arabia and the USA, but both rallies have been postponed to 2025.

The calendar is expected to be officially approved at a meeting of the FIA ​​World Motor Sport Council scheduled for October 19.

Let us remind you that this year the Polish rally was held as part of the European Rally Championship, and Mārtiņš Sesks/Renārs Francis celebrated the victory.
