The return of Stancio: will Slavia pay off and why not opt for the younger version?

COMMENT – After Thursday’s elimination from the Conference League, Slavia fans received good news on Friday. Their dear Nicolae Stanciu could return to Eden. Is it worth it for Slavia and why not opt for a cheaper option?

When Nico Stanciu left Slavia in the winter, many fans said we would miss him a lot. But probably no one could have guessed how much. It is no exaggeration to say that Stancio’s departure cost Slavia the championship.

Most of the opponents pulled back against Slavia and the seamers failed to get into the closed defense. Stancio’s replacement did not arrive and another creative midfielder could not be found who could unlock the opponent’s parked bus.

No swagger in a closed defense

And this year too, celebrities are experiencing the same pain. Hradec, Slovácko, Sivasspor, Kluž, Olomouc, Kluž and again Sivasspor. What do these matches have in common? Despite the clear superiority in the match, the seamers failed to win the match.

For a similar reason in the spring, Slavia drew twice with Pilsen and lost the title. Viktoria bet on a fierce defense in both duels and, instead of a title fight, it looked like a duel of the first with the last. But Slavia played handball, constantly moving the ball from side to side with no effect, and there was no danger. The absence of creative fun was essential.

Even in the summer, however, Slavia failed to replace Stancio. Trpišovský in some matches on a trio of defensive midfielders, which resulted in a very mechanical and legible game of sewing. There was a moment of surprise missing, something unusual and risky, which not many players would allow themselves to do.

And in winter, Slavia will probably look for a logical solution. If she can’t replace Stancia, she’ll bring him back, plain and simple. Some might argue that he shouldn’t focus on one player and should rather look for a younger version of Stancio, who can cash in or drag Slavia into the years to come.

Return of the station? Definitely yes!

But I think Stancio’s return is a good step. Yes, Slavia still depends on player sales. However, he should focus on the starts of young players with potential who are easier to replace. Just like Abdallah Sima, Alex Král, David Zima or Yira Sor.

You cannot easily replace more experienced players who have a key role in the team and are absolutely a fulcrum. And as for Stancio, you won’t find a player with similar qualities.

Besides, he always has Slavia in his heart. He proves it enough on his Instagram profile, where he often shares memories in the red and white shirt or interacts with Slavic fans.

Furthermore, at 29, he is still in the ideal age and, due to his style of play, has no signs of aging. He had already earned enough in China and apparently realized that he would rather prioritize his sporting goals over the financial side.

Apparently the Slavia management also realized that they cannot simply sell players and rely on the fact that sooner or later Trpišovský will invent something new. Slavia grew up with competition in the form of Viktoria Plzeň, who hasn’t been here for the past three years.

In addition, the Stitchers must win at least one trophy, the Scudetto or the Mol Cup. Only then will he return to the cups he wants to play in and it will not work without the help of a strong squad.

In all respects, the return of Stancio makes sense. There is absolutely nothing to wait and Slavia should, in my opinion, do their best to bring the Romanian playboy back to life.
