Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, is preparing to return to Instagram, from where she “left” after becoming a member of the British royal family in 2018. Prince Harry and Meghan’s @sussexroyal account had 9.4 million followers before it was deactivated in 2020 when the couple ceased to be members of the royal family.
Now the tabloid, citing informed people close to the duchess, claims that Markle has a new account called @meghan. Pictured are pink peonies, which are the Duchess’ favorite flowers.
“Yes, it’s her. Expect an announcement very soon. She’s coming back. Everyone in Hollywood is talking about it. Meghan has never made it a secret that she wants to get back on Instagram,” said a friend of Meghan’s.
Before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, the actress had more than three million followers on Instagram, and tens of thousands of fans followed her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
Markle revealed her plans to return to the social network in an interview with The Cut last year, telling writer Alison P. Davis: “You want to know a secret? I’ll be back on Instagram.”
The Duchess’s “new” account already has a large following, and experts say it could significantly improve her financial situation.
Marketing expert Kent Moore, who runs OneEyedSocial, believes Markle has a strong chance of becoming one of the top 10 highest-paid influencers in the world:
“Her status is unique because she is a celebrity, an actress and a member of the royal family. Megan could charge a million dollars per listing as a minimum. This amount will increase rapidly if the partnership reaches a global level. Brands might want to work with him on campaigns over several years. These types of deals can cost significantly more – $12 million and even $20 million.”
