The Return of Bridgestone Super RAP Evo Wheels: A Piece of History Back in Production

What is so attractive about a set of white “tins”, you can tell by viewing the attached photos. Although the footwear looks like a typical Czech set of winter boots, it is an impressive piece of history. If we want to go back to the very beginning, we have to go to the Japanese tuner scene in the early eighties.

It was then that Bridgestone Super RAP Evo wheels were created for sports cars participating in rally competitions or various gymkhans. Although it doesn’t look like it at first glance, it was originally a set of two-piece aluminum wheels of thirteen and fourteen inches, a few years later fifteen more were added.

And what is their magic? While a classic cast wheel with a spoke design would clog the braking system with dirt and mud when riding off-road, this shoe prevented that, but also managed to dissipate heat thanks to the many circular holes around its circumference. After all, the manufacturer said that it is a great ratio of performance to minimal weight. However, one thirteen-inch disc weighed only three and a half kilograms.

Over time, however, the Super RAP Evo wheels also gained popularity for their original aesthetics, and thus began to appear on cars that had nothing to do with racing. For example, on typical Japanese kei cars.

Today, tuners’ shoes are still among the most sought-after goods, most often appearing on old sports Mazdas and Toyotas. And the Bridgestone brand has great news for all those interested – if you want these wheels, you don’t have to look for them in second-hand bazaars anymore. It’s officially back in production!

And this is what the modern edition looks like. Today, bikes are one-piece.

So far, there are only 15 discs to choose from in various specifications for different cars, for one disc you can pay from 6,400 CZK, so the set will cost 25,600 CZK. In the future, the offer will be complemented by an even smaller and more affordable version. You can buy the reincarnated bikes exclusively in the white color that made them famous at the time. You can order now, the first pieces will appear with the owners in February next year.
