The Retirement of Michael Caine: A Legacy of 70 Years in Film

With more than 160 films recorded and more than 70 years working, Michael Caine’s enormous acting career has come to an end, leaving an enormous legacy in this world that many of his younger colleagues would like to achieve.

The British actor, who turned 90 years old in March of this year, has preferred to take a step aside and rest from all the hectic work of filming a movie or television series.

THE RETIREMENT OF MICHAEL CAINE

The actor Michael Caine had just starred in the film “The Great Escaper”, obtaining very good comments from specialized critics, so it is striking that he has decided to retire at this time.

However, there is a lot of logic behind his choice, since one could say that he has gone out with a bang and triumphed in style, as he has always demonstrated since he began his career.

The actor himself, in an interview with BBC Radio, has announced that, officially, he will not continue acting and that he will now rest after an extensive and highly awarded career.

One of the main reasons that led him to that decision is the fact that, at his age, it will be very difficult to find new roles, since in movies, the actors are usually younger.

“I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well, now I am. I thought I had a movie in which I played the lead role and with incredible reviews… What am I going to do to top it? The only roles I’m likely to get now are 90-year-old men, or maybe 85, they’re not going to be the leads. You don’t have protagonists at 90 years old, you are going to have young and handsome boys and girls. So I thought: ‘I’d better go with all this,’” she said.
