SINGAPORE – Thailand against Vietnam in the first leg of the semifinals AFF Cup 2020. The match at the National Stadium, Singapore, Thursday (12/23/2021), evening WIB, Thailand won 2-0 over Vietnam.

First round

At the beginning of the first half, both teams played at a fast tempo. Action against each other ensued, but Thailand was able to slightly dominate the game.

In the 15th minute, Thailand was able to take the lead after doing a good counter-attack. Chanathip Songkrasin kept Vietnam’s defense from moving so he could score the first goal.

Vietnam continues to try to develop its game after falling behind. However, Thaliand was able to show a solid defense so that it was difficult for Vietnam to minimize the gap.

However, until the first half ended, Thailand and Vietnam were unable to score any additional goals. Thailand was 2-0 up over Vietnam in the first round.

Second round

In the second half, Vietnam appeared more cautious and slightly reduced the tempo of the game. However, Thailand was able to control the ball better and often threatened the Vietnamese goal.

The match was again running fiercely since the 55th minute after Vietnam tried to appear more aggressive. However, Vietnam’s opportunities are still not able to be maximized properly.

Vietnam was able to create a golden opportunity in the 67th minute after Nguyen Quang Hai was able to make a hard shot. Unfortunately, the ball still hit the crossbar so that Vietnam has not been able to reduce the gap.

In the 84th minute, Thailand got a penalty kick after Vietnam’s defense made a violation in the forbidden box. Chanatip who became the executioner failed to do his job so the score remained 2-0.

Until the end of the match, no additional goals were created. Thailand also won the first leg of the semifinals with a convincing score of 2-0.
