The winners of the New York Marathon 2022

The 51st running of the New York Marathon took place in exceptionally warm weather on Sunday, November 6, 2022. The temperatures recorded at the finish line were the hottest since the 1985 edition! More than 50,000 competitors departed from Staten Island. 42 km later, here are the winners of the 2022 edition:

  • Among men, the 2022 edition of the New York Marathon was won by Kenyan Evans Chebet in 2:08:41. The 33-year-old Kenyan won the Boston Marathon in April 2022 but also the Valencia and Lake Biwa Marathons in 2020 and the Buenos Aires Marathon in 2019. Evans Chebet was followed by Ethiopian Shura Kitata, who finished in 13 second from him, and the Dutchman Abdi Nageeye.
  • In the women, the victory goes to the Kenyan Sharon Lokedi in 2:23:23. A masterstroke for this 5000m regular who was taking part in a marathon for the first time! Sharon Lokedi slightly preceded the Israeli Lonah Chemtai Salpeter and the Ethiopian Gotytom Gebreslase.
  • In the wheelchair athlete category, Swiss Marcel Hug won for the fifth time in the event. This time he broke the New York Marathon record, setting the canonical time of 1 hour, 25 minutes and 26 seconds. In women, the title went to Susannah Scaroni. The American also broke the event record in 1 hour, 42 minutes and 43 seconds.
