Representatives of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), on a recent visit to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), learned of the Abdala vaccine’s results in addressing COVID-19, both in the adult population and pediatric
According to the CIGB’s Twitter account, Dr. Verena Muzio, director of Clinical Research at that center, was tasked with presenting the findings at a meeting where visitors expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with Cuba.
The Unicef delegation was led by Dr. Ephrem T. Lemango, Associate Director of Immunization, and by the representative of this organization in the Greater Antilles, Alejandra Trossero.

During the exchange at the research center belonging to the Business Group of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma), they discussed their interest in contributing to the well-being of children and adolescents and reaching the most disadvantaged in the world.
Visitors were accompanied by Dr Mayda Mauri and David Curbelo, directors of BioCubaFarma, as well as other officials from the ministries of public health and foreign trade and foreign investment.
