The rest of the world should kindly submit to Western interests in the Ukraine war

Colonialism has always been a Western affair. There were no Chinese trading posts in India, no Bantu king sent troops to South America.

It was Europeans and Americans who subdued the world – with guns, decked out in honeyed lies.

Spain’s conquistadors were supposedly concerned with the conversion of heathens, the British and French gave savages the light of civilization, the USA established a peace order – from Panama to the Philippines.

Nothing has changed in this hypocrisy, as the conflict over Ukraine shows. Colonialism lives on, only with a different label: Western values.

With this battle cry, the West is ordering the rest of the world to kindly participate in the sanctions against Russia. Because they are by no means global. China, India, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa are not participating.

That this is not in the interests of these countries – who cares? The West commands – just as it once did, so it does today.

Pride? Yes. You can also call it neo-colonialism.
