The resilience story of actor Andrés Castillo

After a dark past, the young Dominican actor Andrés Castillo has re-emerged as the Phoenix, and today he can boast of having one of the most successful podcasts on Spotify, five films that are about to come out, including two leading roles, a series of television and several songs that will be released during this 2021.

“This year I have five films to come out, two leading roles, one of them directed by Juan Basanta and the other by Hans García,” the interpreter confessed excitedly during an interview with Free Journal, highlighting that they are the two most important film projects of his career.

In addition, he pointed out that this year he continues to be immersed in his musical process, and announced that now in January his first song called Winners, a very personal song where he narrates part of his experiences.

Another project that has him very excited is his podcast, which he claims has become a success on Spotify, to the point of ranking number one in that important social network. “I have the podcast number one in the Dominican Republic on Spotify ”. His name is Bald tongues, and in it he addresses different topics, and answers questions from the audience, some very complex that he addresses from his own life experience.

He left behind a past of addictions that took him away from everything and everyone, but the love of his partner and family led him to the new path, accompanied by professional help and an iron will to get out of the abyss in which he found himself.

Andrés has had to fight with his demons from a very young age, some of them that put him on the edge of very difficult situations.

“At an early age I realized that I had a tendency to create chaos. If I see everything very calm, I want to destroy it, burn everything, it is a madness that lives inside my head that I have to control even today, and that mixed with a high consumption of drugs and alcohol for many years, they were the gasoline for that madness ”, he considered extremely sincere, one of his most obvious characteristics, he said.

And continued. “Less than two years ago, I was finally able to enter rehab and take charge of my life.” All this he narrates happened parallel to his life as an actor, since he was already making films.

“I was able to calm that madness in my head, focus only on positive things, like my art and my music. I am a year and a half sober from hallucinogens. I have everything very fit after a very turbulent past, a product of the mental past that I had, added to substance abuse, “he reiterated.

This was largely due to art, which became a kind of catharsis in his life. “Art for me somehow made me focus that madness; now I can have that way of being able to unload all that energy in my career ”, he expressed.

“I still have that tendency a bit manic, but now I focus on something positive,” he reaffirmed. Despite all these problems, the actor assured that he has never been a victim of depression.

Support from loved ones

“My partner, Priscila, and my father, Pedro, were the two people who, when I had lost everything due to consumption and madness, believed in me and my talent. In my future and promise of art. They were there holding my hand and giving me my strap when I needed it, but they were there and today they are the two people most involved in my career, “he admitted.

And so it is, in fact, his dad is the leader of his team and his partner is practically his right hand man.
