The resignation of a Mexican ambassador accused of theft in Argentina

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard accepted the resignation of Oscar Ricardo Valero, the country’s ambassador to Argentina.

The US Bloomberg News quoted a tweet by Mexican Foreign Ministry spokesman Roberto Velasco saying that Valero had resigned for health reasons.

Earlier this month, the Mexican Foreign Ministry summoned Valero, 76, from Argentina after trying to steal a $ 10 book on the life of the 18th-century Italian minister of Giacomo Casanova from a famous library in the country.

It was reported that the ambassador was caught trying to leave the library “El Ateneo” – one of the most famous libraries in the world – in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, with the book, which he did not pay for, on October 26th.
