The police suspect a crime in connection with the Parkano apartment building fire. Based on the site investigation and preliminary interviews, the police have reason to suspect that the fire started as a result of the resident’s own actions.
On the night of Sunday, September 22, a fire damaged the high-rise apartment located in Parkano’s Viinikanrintine. The resident of the apartment was injured in the fire and is hospitalized. No one else was injured.
Although the actual fire was limited to the apartment where it started, there was considerable smoke from the fire in the stairwell of the apartment building. This caused a danger to the other occupants of the staircase.
The police have initially been able to talk to the resident of the burned apartment. The matter is being investigated as a vandalism at this stage.
