On March 8, 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur airport. The plane, which had 239 people on board, was on its way to Beijing but disappeared from radar shortly after take-off.

A search for MH370 in the Indian Ocean west of Australia was in vain.

Ten years later, it is still a mystery where the plane went. But now Australian researcher Vincent Lyne has a new theory about what happened.

“This report changes the narrative of the disappearance of MH370 due to lack of fuel and no fault of the pilot who observes its almost perfect disappearance in the southern Indian Ocean”writes Lyne in a research report published in the Journal of Navigation.

“The Perfect Hideout”

He refers to the opinion of investigator Larry Vance that there was fuel left in the tanks and the engines were running when he disappeared. According to Lyne, this indicates that it was not a “high speed crash” but that the pilot put the plane down in the water in a “controlled” manner.

According to Lyne, the wreckage of MH370 “is located where the width of the Penang airport runway intersects the path of the pilot’s simulator which was rejected by the FBI and government officials as ‘unacceptable'”.

“There is a hole 6,000 meters deep”writes Lyne.

He describes it as “the perfect hiding place” for MH370 and believes the location should be a “top priority” in future research efforts.

“There is no doubt that the investigation points to the whereabouts of MH370”writes Lyne who therefore sees the mystery as “solved”.
