Yves Rénier made his film debut in 1961 in one of the film adaptations of Alexander Dumas’ famous novel The Count of Monte Christo. In 1965, he acted in the successful series Belphégor alongside singer Juliette Gréco, but he only became famous in the series Commissioner Moulin, whose first episodes were made in 1976 and the last premiered in 2008. Meanwhile, Rénier also starred in several films.
A crime series about Parisian Commissioner Moulin appeared on Czechoslovak television just three years after its French premiere. Czech viewers have Rénier connected with the voice of the dubber Miroslav Moravec.
In recent years, Rénier has been cast, for example, in the successful television film about Jacqueline Sauvage. The woman was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2014 for shooting a man with a hunting rifle who had beaten her for decades. In 2016, then-French President François Hollande pardoned her.
