Sending of press releases, invitation to press conferences visually or visually, field visits, presentation by episodes of their list … Candidates for the regional and departmental elections on June 20 and 27 are tempted to over-solicit the press as the health crisis complicates their field campaign. But no question for The Republic of the Center to be the mailbox of candidates and parties. The log displays its own tempo.
“The Center France group covers a large part of the Center-Val de Loire region. We work hand in hand with The Republican Echo and The Republican Berry. We wanted to prevent the parties from playing on all three fields, ”says Johnny Roussel, editor-in-chief of The Rep ‘.

The rules are the same for all three titles: we ensure the presentation of each regional list (simultaneously in the three newspapers), that of the departmental lists as well as a single campaign document per candidate. Exit the inaugurations of premises and the presentation of support committees; vigilance on “media blows”.
The three titles favor pedagogy
“We did not go to the press conference, in Orleans, of Nicolas Forissier with Florent Montillot on the inter-municipal transport police because urban transport is not the responsibility of the Region”, quotes Philippe Abline, journalist for example. . The events are therefore selected according to their real interest.
Everyone has also noticed the many field trips of François Bonneau, the current PS president. “It is complicated not to talk at all about the action of an outgoing president, but we remain very vigilant,” says the editor.
The three titles also favor pedagogy in order to understand the functioning and usefulness of these local communities.
“With the communities of municipalities, the Regions have more power but they remain poorly known communities.”

Too, thematic pages are devoted, every Tuesday, to the major challenges of the Region (transport, economic development, ecology and environment, tourism, high schools and universities, management of European funds). A trombinoscope of the candidates will also be produced, as well as the portraits of each head of the regional list. Between the two rounds, the three newspapers can organize a debate. On June 22 and 28, part of the report will be shared, in particular on mergers and the portrait of the president.

The framing goes as far as defining typical locations, on four or six columns, for example, for presentations. “There is only one exception, on citizen candidatures reduced to two columns, because it is not sure that they bring together the 89 names essential to maintaining the list (77 holders and 12 replacements)”, specifies Philippe Abline.
This organization is necessary: ”With this double election (regional and departmental), we could not, in particular, have been able to increase the number of spaces due to pagination constraints “, says Johnny Roussel. But variations are also made on the Web, in particular on regional skills, including an element of the program of declared candidates.
The campaign started less quickly and less strongly for the departmental elections than for the regional ones. But for The Rep ‘, the principle of equity is similar. The newspaper offers, since April 13, seven thematic pages, with one publication every Wednesday. The file starts from a concrete example: colleges, nursing homes, firefighters, roads and canals, heritage, etc. Unlike the regional ones, it was not possible to get the candidates to react in these pages, because all have not yet been declared. The issues will be detailed, in May, for each of the 21 cantons, on the local pages.
