Negotiations are currently ongoing with other providers
They already have numerous German cities, and Freiburg will soon follow suit: A rental system for stationless electric scooters will soon also be launched in the Breisgau metropolis. The city administration has reached an agreement with a provider in the past few days after the municipal council decided at the beginning of the year to draw up guidelines for an offer of rental e-scooters.
Charging with green electricity near public transport stops
The aim was to integrate rental systems for e-scooters into the Freiburg traffic landscape in a safe, sustainable and trouble-free manner. The concept has now been implemented by the gardening and civil engineering department, together with the provider “Yoio” from Göttingen. The point was that the scooters should be charged with green electricity and that the fleet should not exceed a certain size. Permanent employees are supposed to maintain the fleet. Many of the scooters are to be placed near bus and tram stops.
At the same time, it should be ensured that there are not too many scooters in the city center. Disruptive or defective e-scooters should be removed within a few hours.
The city is currently negotiating with other providers. The same competitive conditions should apply to all operators.
