Bad news for Racing Club de Strasbourg and its supporters! This Thursday, France Blue Alsace informs us that the renovation of the Meinau stadium will be late and will deliver the new enclosure at least a year late. Initially planned for the end of 2025, the RCSA’s new lair could see the light of day at the beginning of 2027. The reason is simple: the explosion of costs. Indeed, the project had been announced at 100 million euros, which should ultimately cost a sum of around 140 million euros. What slow down the various parties involved, with an increase of 40% compared to what was expected.
The Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, Racing, the Grand Est Region, Strasbourg and finally the European Community of Alsace are looking for solutions since the explosion of costs. New companies interested in the site should submit new offers by the end of January. As a reminder, the Meinau stadium should go from 26,000 to 32,000 seats thanks to this major extension project, which should have started this spring.
